Team Selection for the 2018 FAI - F3J World Championship
Attention all Canadian F3J pilots! This is an invitation to express your interest in representing Canada at the next F3J World Championship in Romania in the summer of 2018. There is limited financial support from MAAC, so interested individuals are expected to assume the majority of their expenses and have a sufficient number of models for a world championship event. If there are more than 3 registrations, this team trial competition will select the best candidates based on results from a two-day competition. With 3 or fewer registrations, the team will be formed with those candidates without a need to compete at the team trial. Please register only if you are seriously considering going to the WC.

Rules & details
The contest format will follow the same format as the previous team selects which will be bungee launch with the addition of winches as an optional launch solution, provided that suitable hardware can be acquired to support the number of pilots attending. If the contest organizers cannot find enough winches and supporting hardware suitable for the event then the launch format will default to the supplied matched bungees.
All scores and penalties will be calculated as per FAI rules.
This contest will be an open FAI Man on Man contest to any pilot (US or Canadian) wishing to attend. Pilots will register either in the recreational or team select class. Registration of three or more team select pilots will qualify this competition as a Team Selection. Otherwise, the pilots registered in the team select class will automatically form the Canadian team, without further requirements. In case the competition does not qualify as Team Selection, it will be up to the CD to decide to cancel the event or not.
The scores for all team select class pilots will be separated at the end of the contest and will constitute the outcome of the national team selection for Canada.
The reason the contest directors have decided on opening up the contest to others (and US) pilots is to attain more help in setting up and running the contest.
