Warbirds & Classics 2015 9th Annual Scale Fly-In.
For nearly a decade the Scale Squadron's fly-in has been the "don't miss" event in Scale RC in Southern California. Some of the best and most active scale modelers and their beautiful aircraft from all over the Western United States come out for some great flying, food, and fun! This year's Warbird's and Classics Scale R/C Model Fly-In, will again have some of the best around. AND NOW WE'RE AT A NEW LOCATION! OCMA IN IRVINE, CA!
Don't miss our Saturday Night Banquet, at a beautiful location near Irvine Lake! This year, we will again be honored to have Guest Speaker Colonel Bob Thacker. A war hero and aviation icon, World-Record holder and AMA Hall-of Fame member, Col Thacker will fill us in on the wonders of being a military aviator starting prior to WWII and for decades after.
This event is a scale fly-in where like-minded modelers bring out their scale models and fly. No pressure, no stress, just fun in the sun at the wonderful OCMA flying site (flyocma.com).
Activities:
-Open Flying and formation-friendly flying. (remember, no 3D flying or hovering)
-Event Awards. Your flying and plane will never be openly judged. But our secret judges watch you fly and give each plane a close up review. We award winners in several categories with plaques, including: Best Warbird, Best Classic, Best Electric Jet, and there's a People's Choice award too. You're automatically entered and all you have to do is fly and maybe show-off a little.
- Parade of Planes. Saturday during the lunch break, we bring out all of the aircraft out on the runway for People's Choice voting, viewing, and pictures!
-Saturday Night Banquet. At our neighboring property, we are hosted by Gary James at one of his famous entertainment areas. Mr. James will present a tasty catered dinner and drinks! Celebrate a great day of flying. But it doesn't stop there. There will be some GREAT items auctioned items TBA.
The pinnacle of the evening is our guest speaker. Col Bob Thacker is a world record holder in a full size Twin-Mustang "Betty-Jo" and is an AMA Hall-of-Famer. Pre-Register to reserve your space. It IS limited!
-We'll even have event shirts available all weekend. Save money and reserve your shirt when you pre-register!

We have secured a camp site very near the entrance to the OCMA field. 10 dollars per night. This is dry camping but RV's and Tents ARE WELCOME. It's 10 per night, so if you are staying multiple nights, just pick multiple qty.
