The history of this Airshow

    As a group “The Ottumwa Radio Controlled Flyers”, we support our Veterans by flying our planes and using our hobby as a Tool to promote “PATRIOTISM “for the Men and Women that have served and are Currently serving in the Armed Forces. It has been a great feeling for those in this club to look back at the years that we have done this with pride. In conjunction with the AMA org, we support the National Day of Flying. On that day clubs all over the country clubs like ours,” fly our planes to support the MEN and WOMEN of the Armed Forces”.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AT THIS FLY-IN

  As a pilot attending our Airshow you will find that there no other airshow like this that you have been to before. You will be given the opportunity to meet some of our greatest Hero’s face to face , and hear their stories about the battles that they were in and get a chill that you were a part of something great and meaningful,

 All of the funds taken in at our events 100% of the pilot fees or ticket sales are donated to our Wounded Warriors. It is because of our great sponsors that fund our great events.

 You will also be treated with open arms by our community. The Ottumwa citizens are behind us with our efforts and respect you as a pilot for coming and flying at this event.

 We don’t care what you, fly from the beginner to the 25yr jet jock, this event is to first off have fun and fly.

 Thursday is open flying all day , Thursday night in  Ottumwa the city will be hosting RAGBRI ,This is an event in which bicycles ride across the state of Iowa and stop in a new city every night there will be 1000’s of people in our city that night and bands and Etc. So if you want to go have a good time that’s one thing you can check out.

 Friday once again open flying all day , 7 pm we host a night at Bridge View Center where you will be able to hear from our War Hero’s and hear a min by min account of what went on in their battles, Last year we all but sold out this event . Bill Botts from Des Moines Iowa and Great Rc pilot said it best and I quote “This was one of the best nights and it was worth it just to hear them speak” As a pilot we would like for you to attend this night and see and hear from our VIP’s.

 It very Important that if you are going to attend this event you purchase tickets in advance to ensure we hold your spot. This will sell out this year!!!  Also as a Pilot you will get the chance to go to the VIP room for a meet and greet after their performances are over. You will not be sorry for going to this event.

 Saturday is our airshow. You will find that we are an easy place to fly at. Saturday will be filled with our VIP’s and most importantly veteran’s; The day will be filled with our ongoing passion to our troops and warriors. The airshow part of the day will filled with feature pilots and anyone that cares to get out and put on a show!!! Last year’s show turned out to be just plain AWESOME. And with any luck at all we can repeat the same great show or maybe even better.

 Around 6:30 pm we will have our pilot’s dinner with BOB “BOBO” DAVIDSON performing live for all of you while you enjoy our dinner, Flight line will remain open till dark.
